In an article recently completed for the Washingtonian, several restaurant recommendations for Father’s Day were issued, based on the preferences of the father’s tastes in dining out. Nearly every restaurant on the suggestions list involved barbecue of some measure and hearty meat was almost always a guarantee.
For in town barbecue fans, Art and Soul is suggested. Chef Wes Morton’s Saturday Supper provides fathers with Texas barbecue family-style, with deviled eggs, ribs and pie as added options. The meal is sixty-five dollars per person. For an out of town treat, KBQ Real Barbecue is suggested. Pitmaster Kerry Britt’s ribs are worth the drive and can come with twenty-four wings. For dads who prefer their barbecue to have a touch of Korean stylings, Kogiya offers all you can eat lunch and dinner specials, starting at twenty-one dollars a person. For those who enjoy pork as their meat of choice, Mintwood Place is the perfect destination; a Father’s Day brunch offers swine-heavy dishes, such as Basque-style big hash and wood-fired heritage ham.
A series of less formal options are presented, particularly for fathers who either have younger children or tend to act like younger children themselves. For those with kids to keep in mind, Pinstripes Bowling and Boccee is offered, which allows consumers to enjoy barbecue, steaks and burgers in between bowling. Free pizza is offered to those with the heart of an eight-year-old boy at Pizzeria Orso; the first one hundred dads are eligible for a buy one-get one free pie deal.
A few upscale options are presented, for classier acts. Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak and Stone Crab is the most noted, located not too far from the White House. They offer bone-in steak and Alaskan King Crab. As an alternative, for a no-frills atmosphere and a low-key meal, dads should seek out Ray’s the Steaks, which serves steak-tartare-filled deviled eggs and sherried crab bisque.
